Description

The Level 2 NVQ Passive Fire Protection (Fire Stopping) assessment and training course has been carefully designed for skilled passive fire stoppers that have sufficient expertise in their sector and those that are capable of demonstrating the necessary passive fire protection expert knowledge, according to the National Occupational Standards.

You are suitable for this qualification if you work as a fire stopper on new build sites and/or existing buildings such as retirement homes, hospitals, offices or apartment blocks. Most workers who take this NVQ are employees or sub-contractors of firms that specialise in fire-stopping. Some workers have moved into fire-stopping from painting & decorating, plastering or joinery and already have an NVQ in their original trade; others started out in fire-stopping and are undertaking their first vocational qualification.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. However the candidates should be working within the industry to enrol in this NVQ. Here at DB College we are conducting an initial assessment of candidate skills and knowledge to identify any gaps and help plan the assessment.

Assessment

Assessment is the process of measuring a candidate’s skill, knowledge and understanding against the standards set in the qualification. This qualification is competence-based, candidates must demonstrate the level of competence described in the units. The qualification will be assessed in line with the Construction Skills Consolidated Assessment Strategy and will be internally assessed by an appropriately experienced and qualified Assessor. The assessment process is conducted through our e-portfolio system and it is formed of two parts:

  1. Knowledge – the candidates are required to complete a workbook
  2. Practical – evidence to be collected from site visits
