If you operate plant or work on lifting operations, your route runs through CPCS and NPORS rather than a standard CSCS trade card. The NVQs work the same way — assessed on the job, while you keep earning.
The qualifications on this page cover plant operations at Level 2 (forklift, dumper, excavator, ADT, 360 telehandler, tractor and cranes), slinger signaller at Level 2, and the controlling lifting operations route at Level 4 for supervising lifts and Level 5 for planning lifts.
These qualifications sit behind the competence requirements of both the CPCS and NPORS schemes, and are what card renewals and upgrades are typically built around. Which category or categories you are assessed against depends on the machines you actually operate — your assessor will confirm this at the start.
Everything is assessed in your normal working environment. There is no classroom and no written exam. Evidence comes from site observations, machine records, photographs and professional discussions, gathered around your shifts.
Entry requirements: none formally, but you must be operating the relevant plant or working in lifting operations with access to a site where evidence can be gathered.
Most courses offer a 50/50 payment option: half when you enrol, half when you complete, at 0% interest with no credit check.
