Before you enrol
Do I have to attend a college or training centre?
No. The whole qualification is assessed on site in your normal working environment. Your assessor gathers evidence from the work you already do through professional discussions, workplace documentation, policies, risk assessments and management reports.
Do I need any qualifications to start?
There are no formal academic entry requirements. You should be aged 16 or over, working in a senior health and safety role with responsibility for managing workplace health and safety, have access to workplace evidence and basic English communication skills.
How long does it take?
Most candidates complete in around 12 weeks. The pace is set by how quickly evidence is gathered from your role, so motivated professionals with active responsibilities often finish sooner.
Does this get me the Black CSCS Card?
The Level 6 NVQ Diploma is the qualification the Black CSCS Manager Card requires, subject to current CSCS requirements. Once your NVQ is awarded, you pass the CITB Managers & Professionals Health, Safety & Environment test and apply to CSCS — we’ll point you through both steps.
How does the 50/50 payment work?
