Qualify while working

Built for experienced flooring installers

This Level 3 route assesses both installation skills and how you plan and organise floorcovering work. Your assessor checks your existing skills and access to suitable projects before enrolment.

Workplace assessment

Build a portfolio from real flooring jobs, observations, photographs, documentation and professional discussions.

6–8 week target

Suitable for experienced candidates who can supply evidence promptly. Your assessment plan and quality assurance determine completion.

Current Level 3 specification

Qualification 610/7296/5, based on ProQual specification V1.1, April 2026. Read the qualification specification.

Two pathways

Match the NVQ to the floors you install

Resilient/Textile

13 mandatory units covering resilient and textile floorcoverings, preparation, setting out, evaluating conditions and joining or repairing textile flooring. Your work must support both installation scopes.

Timber

11 mandatory units covering timber-based floorcoverings, preparation, setting out and evaluating conditions. Installation evidence must cover the specified endorsements, including at least two timber flooring types.

Check before paying

Tell us whether you fit carpet, resilient flooring, wood block, solid wood, engineered wood or laminate. We will check the available evidence and pathway requirements.

Additional units are available in the specification but are not compulsory for the award. Your assessor confirms the required units and endorsements for your selected pathway.

Common questions

Before you enrol

Which qualification will I receive?

The ProQual Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Floorcovering Occupations (Construction), qualification number 610/7296/5, on the Resilient/Textile or Timber pathway agreed with your assessor.

Which flooring pathway should I choose?

Choose Resilient/Textile if your work can demonstrate the required resilient and textile installation units. The Timber pathway is for suitable timber-based flooring work. DB College checks your duties, materials and access to evidence before confirming the pathway.

Do I need qualifications or classroom attendance?

There are no formal academic entry requirements. You must be at least 16 when registered and have access to practical floorcovering activities in a real working environment. Assessment uses workplace evidence and knowledge evidence; practical workplace skills cannot be simulated.

How long does the Level 3 Floorcovering NVQ take?

DB College targets 6–8 weeks for experienced flooring installers with suitable work and evidence available. Completion depends on covering all required units and passing assessment and quality assurance; it is not guaranteed within a fixed number of weeks.

Does this qualification support a Gold CSCS card?

A relevant construction Level 3 NVQ supports the Gold CSCS Skilled Worker route. Your qualification and pathway must match the occupation applied for, and you must meet current CSCS requirements, including the relevant CITB Health, Safety & Environment test within the required period. The card application is separate from the NVQ.

What is the price and can I split payment?

The course fee is £1,000, including registration, assessment and certification. Choose full payment or the 50/50 option: £500 when you enrol and £500 on completion.
