This is the ProQual Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Contracting Operations Management, qualification number 610/3957/3. ProQual sets 1,150 hours of total qualification time and 510 guided learning hours. You complete five mandatory units and four optional units chosen from a pool of fourteen, matched to the commercial work you actually do.

Awarded by ProQual AB and regulated by Ofqual. Assessed on a portfolio of workplace evidence, marked pass or fail, internally verified by our centre and externally quality assured by ProQual. There are no formal entry requirements; we carry out an initial assessment of your skills and experience before you enrol. CSCS lists this qualification against Black Manager card occupations including construction buyer, estimator, planner, surveyor and contracting manager — the card is applied for separately, after the CITB Managers and Professionals health, safety and environment test.

Do I have to attend a college or training centre?
No. The diploma is completed through workplace assessment and portfolio evidence, so you keep working while you qualify. There are no classroom sessions and no traditional written exams.
Do I need any qualifications to start?
There are no formal academic entry requirements. You should be aged 19 or over, hold a technical, commercial, planning or operational role in construction, manage commercial or operational activities, and have access to workplace evidence for assessment.
How long does it take?

Does this get me the Black CSCS Manager Card?
The Level 6 NVQ Diploma supports progression to the Black CSCS Manager Card. Once your diploma is awarded, you pass the CITB Health, Safety & Environment test and apply to CSCS — and the qualification also supports progression towards MCIOB membership.
