Before you enrol
Do I have to attend a college or training centre?
No. The qualification is completed entirely through workplace assessment and portfolio evidence. Your assessor gathers evidence from your normal roofing work — observations, professional discussions, installation photographs, workplace documentation and health and safety records.
Do I need any qualifications to start?
No formal academic entry requirements. You should be aged 16 or over, working in a roofing or waterproofing role, have access to live workplace roofing activities, and have a basic understanding of English — the NVQ assesses the competence you already have.
How long does it take?
Typical completion is around 12 weeks, driven by how quickly evidence is gathered from your jobs. If you need the qualification sooner, choose the fast-track route option at checkout (£200 more than the normal route).
Does this get me the Blue CSCS Card?
This Level 2 NVQ supports progression to the Blue CSCS Skilled Worker Card. Once your NVQ is awarded, you pass the CITB Health, Safety & Environment test and apply to CSCS — we’ll point you through both steps.
How does the 50/50 payment work?
