Do I have to attend a college or training centre?
No. The qualification is completed entirely through workplace assessment and portfolio evidence. Your assessor gathers evidence from your real management activities — there are no classroom sessions and no traditional written exams.
Do I need any qualifications to start?
There are no formal academic entry requirements. You should be aged 19 or over, hold a senior management position in construction, and have access to workplace evidence — the projects, teams and commercial operations you already manage.
How long does it take?

Does this get me the Black CSCS Manager Card?
The Level 7 NVQ supports your application for the Black CSCS Manager Card. Once your NVQ is awarded, you pass the CITB Health, Safety & Environment test and apply to CSCS — we’ll point you through both steps. It also supports progression towards MCIOB membership.
