Why this course
Built for steel erectors who can’t afford weeks off site
Zero days off the steel
The whole diploma is assessed in the workplace. No college, no evening classes, no written exams — your site is the classroom.
Qualify while you work
Your day rate doesn’t stop. Evidence comes from the steelwork you’re already erecting — observations, photos, inspection records and professional discussions.
Typically done in 12 weeks
Most candidates complete in around 12 weeks, at a pace built around the jobs you already have booked in. The quicker you submit evidence, the quicker you qualify.
A named assessor, day one
You’re assigned an experienced assessor at enrolment who plans your evidence, guides your portfolio and supports you through to certification.

Common questions
Before you enrol
Do I have to attend a college or training centre?
No. The whole diploma is assessed in your workplace. Your assessor gathers evidence from the steelwork you already do — observations, photos, videos, technical documentation, method statements, risk assessments and professional discussions. There are no classroom sessions and no written exams.
Do I need any qualifications to start?
No formal academic entry requirements. You should be aged 16 or over, already working in structural steel erection with practical experience installing steelwork, and have access to live construction projects where evidence can be collected.
How long does it take?
Typical completion is around 12 weeks. The pace is set by how quickly evidence is gathered from your projects, and a fast-track route is available at checkout if you need the qualification sooner.
Does this get me the Gold CSCS Card?
The Level 3 Diploma supports eligibility for the Gold CSCS Advanced Craft Card, subject to meeting the current CSCS application requirements. Once your diploma is awarded, you pass the CITB Health, Safety & Environment test and apply to CSCS — we’ll point you through both steps.
How does the 50/50 payment work?
You pay £500 when you enrol and the remaining £500 only when you complete the qualification — the balance is due once your diploma is signed off, with nothing to pay in between. No interest, no credit check — just choose the 50/50 option at checkout.
Next step
Your years on the steel already did the hard part.
