About Course

The online learning companion to DB College’s five-day ProQual Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Surveying. It follows the classroom and field programme day by day, so you can study before each day and revise after it.

You cover all five units: health, safety and survey maths (Unit A), levelling (Unit B), the total station (Unit C), GNSS (Unit D) and setting out (Unit E). Each lesson links to the assessment criteria and evidence codes for your portfolio, with worked examples, diagrams and quick checks. A quiz closes each day, and a final knowledge check covers the whole qualification.

The Learner Practical Handout Pack is included as a download. It holds the field tasks, booking sheets and sign-off sheets you complete with your assessor.

What Will You Learn?

  • Understand the health and safety law that applies to survey work
  • Solve right-angle triangles, bearings, distances and coordinate conversions
  • Carry out a two-peg test and book and reduce levels by rise and fall and HPC
  • Set up a total station, observe traverse rounds, apply atmospheric corrections and run a resection
  • Compute a traverse with the Bowditch method
  • Use network RTK GNSS and know when not to use it
  • Work with National Grid and local grid coordinates, drawings and data formats
  • Set out by coordinate, radial and offset methods, set profile boards and carry out OGL surveys
