CPCS & NPORS Red Card to Blue Card — Plant NVQ
To every Red card holder
Your Red card has an expiry date.
Your career shouldn’t.
Two years — that’s all CPCS and NPORS give you on a Red Trained Operator card. After that there is one route forward: the NVQ. No NVQ, no Blue card. We assess you on site, on the machines you already run.

Prices shown are per category for the Plant NVQ. We confirm your exact route and any card-application requirements before you enrol.
Do the maths
The Red card goes either way. The NVQ is yours for life.
Not one day off site
Assessment happens around your shifts. No classroom, no written exams — the machines you already operate are the evidence.
Every extra category costs less
Operators who run several machines qualify in all of them at once. The second category drops to £500 and every one after that is £400.
The qualification never expires
A Red card runs out in two years whatever you do. The NVQ behind your Blue card stays with you for the rest of your career.
Common questions
Before you enrol
How does the multi-category price work?
Your first category is £600, your second is £500, and every category after that is £400. So two categories come to £1,100, three to £1,500, four to £1,900 and five to £2,300. Tick your machines in the calculator above to see your own total.
Do I have to take time off work?
No. Assessment is carried out around your normal shifts using the machines you already operate. Evidence is gathered through photos, site records and a professional discussion — there are no classroom days and no written exams.
Is this recognised by both CPCS and NPORS?
Yes. The Plant NVQ is CITB approved and recognised by both schemes.
My Red card is about to expire. Am I too late?
Speak to us as soon as you can. The Red Trained Operator card runs for two years and cannot be renewed, so the NVQ needs to be completed inside that window. Call or message us with your expiry date and we will tell you honestly where you stand.
What about Appointed Person?
Appointed Person — Lifting Operations is a Level 5 qualification and sits outside the per-category plant pricing above. Tick it in the calculator and we will quote it for you separately.
Next step
You already run the machines. Get the card that proves it.
Tell us which categories you operate and when your Red card expires — we will confirm your route and your exact price before you commit to anything.
