Yes — an NVQ is designed around workplace competence

Construction NVQs can be assessed while you remain at work. Assessment uses evidence from the job, observations, professional discussion and questioning against the qualification standards.

Do I need to attend college every week?

A work-based NVQ is different from a traditional classroom programme. The assessment is based on demonstrating competence in your real role. Your assessor plans how evidence will be gathered and identifies any gaps that need to be covered.

What if I am very busy on site?

Many pieces of evidence are documents managers already produce as part of their job. Good planning with your assessor can reduce duplication and focus assessment on naturally occurring evidence.

DB College helps experienced construction managers gain recognised work-based qualifications while continuing in their current role.
